What is Computer?

The Computer is an electronic device that can store, find and arrange information, calculate amounts, and control other devices. Mr. Charles Babbage is called the Father of the Computer.

What is the full form of a computer?

Generations of Computer

There are five Generations of Computer now-

1- First Generation (1940 to 1956)- The first generation computers were developed by using vacuum tubes based. The first-generation computers worked on the binary-coded concept. Examples: ENIAC, EDVAC, etc.

2- Second Generation (1956 to 1963)- The second generation computers were developed by using transistor technology. In comparison to the first generation, the size of the second generation was smaller.

3- Third Generation (1963 to 1971)- The third generation computers were developed by using Integrated Circuit (IC) technology.

4- Fourth Generation (1972 to 2010)- The fourth generation computers were developed by using microprocessor technology.

5- Fifth Generation (2010 to till date)- The period 2010 to date and beyond, is roughly considered as the period of the fifth generation of computers.

Types of Computer

Mainly four types of Computer-  

1-Super Computer

2-Mainframe computer

3-Mini Computer

4-Workstation Computer

5-Personal Computer (PC)

What are the components of a Computer?

Following are the basic component of a Computer- 

1- CPU (Central Processing Unit)- This is a very important component of a Computer because this is called the Brin of the Computer. 

2- Monitor- This is used to show the work of the Computer. 

3- Keyboard- This is used to type text and give commands to Computer. 

4- Mouse- This is used to point to something and interact with Computer. 

5- Printer- This is used to print documents on a Computer. 

6- Scanner- This is used to scan the document. 

7- Speaker- This is used to listen to the sound of a computer. 

8- Projector- This device is used to project a computer screen on another surface.

9- Joystick- This is used to play video games on the computer. 

10- Pentab- This device is used to create scratches on computer

Input and Output Devices

• Input Device- The device which is used to input the data into the computer is called an input device. 

          Ex.- Keyboard, Mouse, Scanner, Microphones, etc. 

• Output Device- The device which is used to out data from Computer is called the output device. 

           Ex.- Printer, Projector, Speaker, etc. 

Hardware and Software 

• Hardware- That part of the computer we can physically touch is called computer hardware. 

                           Ex.- CPU, motherboard, RAM

• Software - That part of the Computer we can not physically touch is called computer software.                              Software is also called programs, apps, and applications. 

                           Ex.- Google Chrome, Word, Excel, etc.
